Great article, Tony. I think it matters little if Phil Knight is a Republican, Democrat or Independent. Nike employs more than 14,000 people in the US. 7,000 of which are in Oregon. Nike is only one of a number of important employers who choose to operate in Oregon.

When a State and is citizens begin to tax a company disproportionately in comparison to other states, they risk one of two things: that company going out of business because it can no longer be competitive or the company moves its headquarters and employee base and loyalties to a state that is more business friendly.

When either of those things happen both the State and its citizens lose. Loss of jobs, loss of income, loss of tax revenue, loss of charitable contributions, etc.

People need to start waking up and understanding how business is done. And if the citizens decide to increase taxes and the companies and their jobs leave who will pay for all those services they have voted in? You cannot just blame our politicians for doing our dirty work if we choose to let someone else do our thinking. As a democratic society with access to all the information we need, we cannot blame our actions or lack of the same on someone else.

If you want something earn it. Do not take it from someone else and hide behind the entitlement rock. You will be discovered and you will have to pay the price. If not you, your kids or their kids, but judgment day will come. And we all will pay the price.

I have reservations about the Proposed Healthcare Plan. Can it create negative effects to my expenses? Will the benefits overshadow the negatives?
